The Boebert Beachhead

Great Things Have Small Beginnings...
On June 6, 1944, an Allied force comprised of American, British, and Canadian forces invaded the French coastline in an operation called Operation Overlord. The amphibious landing on the beaches of Normandy became the largest amphibious invasion in history.
For those of us who attended school before education became an overt indoctrination camp for liberal talking points, we know (with hindsight) that D-Day marked the beginning of the end for the Axis powers. It was the moment where the tides (quite literally and figuratively) of fortune turned in favor of the Allies. “Victory” over the Axis powers was not automatic; The Japanese surrender was a full year and a half away and there were hundreds of miles of occupied France to fight through on the way to Berlin. We must remember, D-Day was not VE Day. D-Day marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany.
As we all watched the 14, 15, 16, 17… votes for Speaker of the House, a thought occurred to me. Yes, McCarthy almost had the votes he needed but there were still 20, and then ultimately 6, holdouts who refused to rollover for the establishment’s ‘choice.’
The final six were not only able to hold onto their sacred honor by refusing to ‘go along to get along,’ but they forced McCarthy to make huge concessions that support Conservative ideals. And lest we forget: McCarthy did not offer these points as his own priorities until Boebert, Gaetz and the others twisted his arm! Because of this (and his history) McCarthy cannot be trusted to do the Right thing, ever. We are all watching him very closely, We ALSO have a pen and a phone, Mr. Soetoro.
Another key point to remember is that Boebert, Gaetz and the others (presumably) did not hold out for simply ‘better’ deals for themselves which would ultimately be akin to simply selling their vote. Instead, the concessions they squeezed out of McCarthy were literally planks directly taken out of the Conservative platform and not deals made out of self-interest. Remember this.
How cheap must the early McCarthy supporters feel right about now? The Magnificent Six held out, stuck to their guns and won the best possible outcome that they could for their constituents and for the country with the hand they were dealt. 'Cheap.' Yes, that's the appropriate label.
Oh, and can I just say that witnessing Sean Hannity lose his shit on national TV was just icing on the conservative cake. We see you, Sean.
But their TRUE victory is not so obvious. The true victory they won was the example they set to their colleagues in Congress. How many of the 218 congressmen would have opposed McCarthy had they been shown how, but instead they held up their nose and voted to ‘get along?’ How many of the 218 congressmen went against their own constituents to vote for the establishment candidate only to now fear for their own reelection for the betrayal? Talk about an electoral ticking time bomb…
And, when these other congressmen now observe how loved Boebert, Gaetz are now and how unbeatable they are… that goes a long way to changing the hearts and minds of bought-and-paid for congressmen.
The Magnificent Six have shown the on-the-fencers and cowards in Congress that the true power is in values and the People. This is not a FINAL victory, but it is a KEY victory that absolutely sets the table for future successes.
